How to track steps and fix sync issues for challenges?

Wellhub Challenges use steps tracked by your phone or fitness tracker to award points (1 point per step).

How steps are tracked and synced:

  • Connect your data: The first time you join or ask to join a challenge, you'll be prompted to connect Wellhub to your phone's health app (Apple Health for iOS, Google Fit for Android).
  • Use your tracker: Steps recorded by your phone or a connected fitness tracker (like a smartwatch synced to Apple Health/Google Fit) will count.
  • Syncing: Your step points update in the Wellhub app only when you open the challenge page. Pull down on the screen to refresh if needed.
Steps not syncing?

If opening the challenge page doesn't update your steps, try these steps in order:

  1. Update the Wellhub app: Make sure you have the latest version of the Wellhub app.
  2. Refresh: Open the challenge page in the app and swipe down to manually refresh the data.
  3. Check Permissions: Go to your phone's settings for Apple Health or Google Fit and ensure Wellhub has permission to read step data.
  4. Reinstall: If issues continue, try deleting and reinstalling the Wellhub app. You'll need to grant health data permissions again.

💡 If you’re an Android user, check Google Fit Account to make sure the Google account linked to Wellhub during the challenge setup is the same one actively tracking steps in your Google Fit app. If it’s not, delete and reinstall the Wellhub app, go to the challenge page and share health data to restart the sharing process.

Using Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung Health, etc.?

Wellhub challenges connect directly to Apple Health or Google Fit. To count steps from other trackers (like Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung Health):

  1. Make sure your tracker's app is successfully sending step data to Apple Health or Google Fit.
  2. Ensure Apple Health or Google Fit is set as the primary data source if you have multiple sources connected. (Check the settings within Apple Health/Google Fit under Data Sources & Access on your mobile or similar).
  3. If data isn't transferring from your tracker's app to Apple Health/Google Fit, check the help center for your specific tracker app (Garmin Connect, Fitbit app, Samsung Health, etc.) for instructions on connecting it.
